Workspace Migration for Microsoft Exchange

Workspace Migration for Microsoft Exchange (GSMME) is an application that migrates email, calendars and contact data from your Exchange Server, IMAP account or Workspace account. It migrates email from virtually any type of email server (including Exchange, Novell® GroupWise® and Gmail) to Workspace.

To migrate via GSMME, you need to activate the respective Workspace service APIs within Google Cloud Platform

Some technical knowledge is required, but GSMME is the ideal solution for managing a large number of accounts.

Workspace Migration for Microsoft Outlook

(GSMMO) is a desktop application that allows Microsoft Outlook users to import existing emails, contacts and calendar events from a Microsoft Exchange account or PST file into a Workspace account.

This form of migration is recommended for individual boxes and carried out via their owner.

Not recommended for mass migration of multiple users.

This application requires the presence of the Microsoft Outlook programme

Workspace Migration - Administration console

The Workspace Migration service allows you to easily migrate your users' emails, contacts and diaries to Workspace by configuring the service and controlling the process in the Admin Console.

Configuration is simple, and most connections with email servers can be made automatically, without the need to install a client or application.

This solution is only available to Workspace account administrators and is recommended for migrating multiple users.

Where can you migrate from?

You can migrate emails to Google Workspace from the following services or platforms:

Microsoft Exchange
Microsoft SharePoint or OneDrive
File share systems
Box
Google Workspace

Email migration can be a lengthy process.

Depending on the number of emails transferred, it may take days for the process to be completed.

Plan to guarantee the time needed to complete the task.

Data required for migration

To migrate your emails, you need to inform us:

  1. original email
  2. original password
  3. email Workspace

Passwords

IMAP migration requires sending the passwords of the boxes on the current server for authentication.

We recommend changing all passwords for the purposes of migration, which can then be reset after the process.

The process is automatic and there is no need to access email accounts.

If I do a second migration, will the emails be duplicated?

No. If you leave a migration and return to it, the migrated messages will not be migrated again.

The data migration service checks that each message is already in the destination mailbox before attempting to migrate it. It skips messages that are already in the destination mailbox instead of downloading them back into the source mailbox.

Check that everyone has a user account on your new Workspace domain.

The data migration service only migrates data for existing Workspace user accounts.

Migration does not create Workspace users from the data that is migrated.
